A Daily Word Puzzle That Actually Tracks Your Progress

Ask around about daily word games and a pattern emerges: people love the ritual, but most games treat every visit like the first. You solve, you close the tab, and tomorrow the game has no idea who you are.

We built CrossEights Daily around the opposite idea. A daily puzzle is a habit, and habits deserve a memory. So when you play, we quietly keep track of how you're doing — not to judge you, but to make the game more interesting over time.

Your streak, front and center

Consecutive days matter. Solve today's puzzle and your streak grows; miss a day and it resets. It sounds simple, but a streak turns a casual puzzle into a small daily commitment — the same reason people protect their streaks in language apps and fitness trackers. Your current streak shows up when you finish the puzzle, so the number is always one solve away.

Solve times, because speed is part of the fun

Every daily puzzle records how long it took you. Over time that becomes a personal baseline: you'll know whether a 4-minute solve was quick for you or slow for you, and the speed bonus gives fast solvers something extra to chase. Median solve times across all players also shape our difficulty schedule — when we say Friday and Saturday puzzles are Difficult, that's calibrated against real solving data, not a guess.

A stats page that grows with you

Your Statistics page brings it together: puzzles completed, average and best solve times, hint usage, and a weekday performance chart that shows which days you solve best. (More than one player has discovered they're a Tuesday person.) If you missed a day, the past puzzles archive lets you go back and see how you would have scored.

Friendly competition, if you want it

Stats are private by default, but the daily leaderboard shows how today's solve ranked against everyone else playing the same grid. And if a friend beats your time, the rivals system lets you challenge them head-to-head on the same puzzle.

Why we bothered

Because a daily puzzle without memory is a slot machine — fun once, forgettable tomorrow. A daily puzzle with memory becomes a story you're writing about yourself: the streak you protected on vacation, the Saturday Special Blend you finally cracked, the slow creep of your average solve time from six minutes to four.

If you haven't played today, today's puzzle is waiting — and yes, we'll remember how you did.
