Desktop Players: Chasing Speed Bonuses? Pick Your Hints Without Leaving the Keyboard

If you play CrossEights on a desktop browser, today’s update is for you. Roughly half of all CrossEights sessions happen on desktop, and we’ve just made hint selection a lot faster for those players.

Starting now, you can open, choose, and submit hint letters using only your keyboard:

• Press ? at any time to open the hint card and focus the first available hint letter.
• Use A–Z to select or deselect hint letters.
• Press Enter to lock in your choices.
• After the hints are revealed, focus drops right back onto the grid so you can keep solving.
• Hitting ESC or ? again will return you to the grid.

This works whether you’re mid-grid or nowhere in particular — as long as no text field is active, ? will bring up the hint panel.

It’s a small change, but it removes a lot of back-and-forth between mouse and keyboard during a timed solve. If you’re chasing a speed bonus, those seconds add up.
